On 1 October, Salus welcomed leaders from pharmaceutical and biotech industry to Ljubljana for the third time, under the name Lumen, Latin for light.
The keynote guest, Jean-Christophe Tellier, CEO of UCB, joined Žiga Hieng, CEO of Salus, for a conversation on why partnering has become essential. As the industry becomes more integrated from research to the patient, local partners with a deep understanding of healthcare ecosystems play an increasingly important role, and in a time of fast technological advancement, trust between people matters more than ever.
The expert panel discussion with Dr. Susanne Schaffert, Nataša Jenčič of Biogen and Schalk Opperman of Merck focused on the next wave of innovation, how healthcare systems can better recognize the value of new treatments, and how innovation can reach patients in Central and Eastern Europe faster.
The evening was moderated by Jessica J. Federer and opened with a keynote on artificial intelligence, Dr. Christian Bischof. In his closing remarks, Žiga Hieng thanked the speakers, partners and guests for their trust and shared commitment. He highlighted people and partnerships behind Salus’s journey—and their shared purpose: bringing more novel medicines to patients who need them across the region.
